About The American Itasha Association

Carmic.Con: The American Itasha Association is dedicated to celebrating the vibrant community of automotive enthusiasts who embrace the fusion of car culture and pop culture through artistic vehicle customization. We are passionate about fostering a space where automotive modification and Itasha-themed designs come together at community-driven and professional automotive events across the country.

Please don’t misunderstand our intentions or our messaging. We feel that at its core from it's creation the Itasha community was always meant to be all inclusive of all types of artistic expression.   However In America, the classification of "American Itasha" now exists.

What is American Itasha?

The term "Itasha" originated in Japan and traditionally refers to the striking practice of customizing vehicles with artwork inspired by anime and Japanese pop culture. These vehicles are adorned with beloved characters, intricate designs, and bold, colorful visuals—transforming cars into mobile canvases that celebrate Japanese media and fandom.

In the USA American Itasha takes this tradition and expands it to embrace a broader range of pop culture influences, including not only anime but also comics, movies, video games, and other forms of art. While traditional Itasha is often focused on Japanese characters and primarily features Japanese car brands, American Itasha encourages all enthusiasts to participate, regardless of vehicle type, and to incorporate a wider range of cultural elements. This inclusive approach celebrates the diverse creativity of all car owners and allows for unique, personalized expressions of passion through automotive art.

Carmic.Con: A Growing Community

Since its inception, Carmic.Con has been a driving force in the growth of the American Itasha movement. We organize a variety of charity events, from car shows to educational workshops, that highlight both the technical and artistic aspects of vehicle customization. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for both seasoned car modders and newcomers, offering a platform for enthusiasts and creators to connect, share, and learn.

Events put on by our growing community not only showcase the incredible craftsmanship and creativity of the Itasha-Themed car culture here in the states, but also promote a deeper understanding of the artistry and the culture behind it.   We want to collaborate with community to help host panels across the country.

These panels will cover topics like emerging trends in automotive customization, consumer education, insights into the legalities of using copyrighted characters, helping enthusiasts understand their ethical responsibilities, and the importance of fostering a supportive, respectful community—both online and in person.  Through these educational efforts, we aim to inspire and empower our community to create responsibly, with respect for both the art and the culture it represents.

Fostering Community Through Events

Carmic.Con continues to grow through its commitment to both supporting and organizing diverse, community-focused events.  Our car shows feature an incredible lineup of unique vehicles and enthusiast that embody the essence of both traditional Itasha and American Itasha.  Supporting these events attract a wide range of participants and fans, allowing us to foster connections within the broader automotive and pop culture communities.

We believe in helping to elevate the visibility of Itasha culture in the U.S. and providing a platform for passionate individuals to showcase their works or passion, learn from each other, and celebrate this extraordinary blend of automotive and pop culture art.

Through Carmic.Con, the American Itasha Association continues to grow and evolve, driving the American Itasha movement forward while maintaining a strong sense of community, creativity, and collaboration has been the underlining road we walk and believe.   We invite you to join us in celebrating the fusion of art, cars, and fandom at community events across the nation.
